Bulls
Courtenay Herefords has never used A.I. as it wasn’t practical for our management situation, but we strove to buy or lease the best bull we could. An example of this is two bulls we leased from Justamere Farms in the mid-80s LBCR Big Sky L1H161, bred by Little Beaver Creek in Montana, and EEE ADV Oak ANX 1000. Both of these bulls were known throughout North America.
Our current herd sires are Ephr Danner 471T and Ephr Ridge Runner 227S, both selected for birth weight and thickness. Their first calf crop in 2009 has been impressive, with one of the calves sired by EPHR Ridge Runner 227S named 2009 National Junior Reserve Champion Heifer at Bonanza.
Introducing the newest addition to our herd sires:
EFBEEF A303 PROFICIENT F233
We are pleased to introduce Proficeient F233 from Ellis Farms in Illinois to our herd bull lineup. He is a moderate-framed, light birthweight bull with natural thickness and with marbling EPD in the top 10% of the breed. We are excited about our new addition and invite you to stop by the farm to see him and our cow herd with their 2020 calves. EPD: CE 6.9 BW 0.7 WW 50 YW 79 M 27 TM 52 MARB 0.29
